Before we jump into the career stuff, I thought I should introduce myself and the "why" behind Career Inspo.
First...my name is TaNiya.
I've been in the career space since 2019. I started out as a College and Career Specialist, transitioned into resume writing, and then expanded into job search strategy. Since then, I've worked with more than 300 clients, reviewed hundreds of resumes, and had hundreds of conversations about targeted job searches.
So, needless to say, I love what I do!
Working with job seekers has definitely been rewarding and challenging at times. One of the biggest challenges I've seen is professionals reaching a point in their careers where they simply don't know what's next.
Sometimes they have an idea of what they want to do, but something seems to be holding them back.
Maybe they're concerned about starting over.
Or they don't know how to position the experience they already have for a new opportunity.
Maybe they're overwhelmed by all of the "do's and don'ts" of job searching.
Or maybe they've simply been doing the same thing for so long that they aren't sure what else is possible.
And when you don't know what to do next, it's easy to stay exactly where you are.
That's my "why."
Why Career Inspo?
I believe we all have a purpose and a specific journey to walk in that purpose.
That journey might look like a career transition, starting a business, going back to school, pursuing a promotion, changing industries, or simply figuring out how to make your current experience work for the life you actually want.
I don't believe your career has to follow a perfectly straight line.
Your degree, your previous jobs, your skills, your interests, and even the things you've learned from your career mistakes can all become part of the story you're building next.
Sometimes you just need someone to help you see the possibilities.
That's where Career Inspo comes in.
Career Inspo is for the person who knows they're capable of more but isn't quite sure how to get there.
You might be trying to land your first professional role, make a career pivot, get promoted, return to the workforce, or figure out how to take the experience you've gained in one industry and use it somewhere completely different.
Wherever you are in your career, my goal is to give you practical information, inspiration, and strategies you can actually use.
And that's really what I've wanted to accomplish since the inception of TaNiya Clayton LLC: make career development and the job search easier.
I want you to have the information, resources, and strategies you need to pursue the right opportunities without wasting time trying to figure everything out on your own.
But Career Inspo isn't just about getting another job.
I also want to talk about creating additional streams of income and building a career where your job isn't your only source of income.
Because sometimes the next step isn't another position.
It could be:
- A business.
- A side hustle.
- A new skill.
And sometimes it's realizing that you have more options than you thought you did.
So, What Can You Expect From Career Inspo?
I'll be talking about things like:
- Resume and LinkedIn strategies
- Job search strategies
- Interview preparation

- Identifying and communicating transferable skills

- Finding and pursuing the right opportunities

- And, of course, plenty of practical career advice
And if you're wondering what keeps me interested in this work after all these years, it's the people.
I love watching someone go from, "I don't think I'm qualified for this" to "Wait...I actually can do this."
That shift in confidence is everything.
One More Thing About Me...
Sometimes I overexplain, but I don't like a lot of fluff.
I'm the person who might read a "how to" article and say, "Just get to the point." LOL.
I'll try to get to the point in each article, unless we need to discuss the why.
Actually, I can't promise anything.
Just feel free to get to the point.
Literally, I may even include a "Get to the Point" section.
Because while I believe in understanding the why, I also believe you should be able to walk away from an article knowing exactly what to do next.
That's what I want Career Inspo to be for you.
A place where you can learn something, get inspired, and actually take action.
As you read through each post, you should be able to walk away with actionable steps you can use in your resume, job search, interviews, career development, or next career move.
